For a Latvian agricultural community – 38 farmers from the region around Talsi – we organized an excursion in October with the aim of highlighting the benefits of cooperation in interest groups. They have heard of successful cooperation models in the Vulcano country from the “Latvian Agricultural Advice and Training Center”, with which we have been in contact for many years. As diverse as the region, we presented keynote speeches, company tours, tastings and cooperation management.
The opening talk was held by Vulcano country regional manager Mr. Michael Fend. Food philosophy with Lava Bräu, Vulcano ham with product presentation, a presentation of the marketing community Caldera (unmixed hiqh-quality apple wine) and the seed manufactory PSO by Helmut Buchgraber were on the program.
On day 2 followed the joint product HollerVulkan at the fruit farm Christandl, the horseradish farm of the family Tappauf, the only Austrian organic flower agriculture “from the hill” and the sheep wool community “Wollgenuss” at the Gsellmanns world machine before we finished the day with the tourist highlight of the region – the chocolate factory Zotter.
Day 3 started in the Bauernstadl Feldbach with its operational concept and led with a visit of the Raabauer Eisvogel of the Kaufmann family to Risola (municipality St.Anna) to the goat farm of Sonja Trummer. The small goat’s cheese factory was awarded the Styrian animal welfare award this year.
After lunch at castle Kapfenstein with wine tasting in the long cellar of the winery Winkler Hermaden, we accompanied the professional guests to the Hatzendorf Agricultural School and the pumpkin farm of Gartner family in Weinberg, where the initiatives “Landlust”, “Volcano country holiday” and volcanic wheat were presented.
We would like to thank the Latvian organizers of the group for their trust in our service, the great feedback on the trip and wish the young farmers’ cooperation patience and much success.
